Appliance Repair FAQ — Wasatch Front

Common questions about our service.

Why does Herriman's water hardness change so much by season?

Herriman draws from Jordan Valley Water Conservancy surface water during off-peak months at 10–15 grains per gallon, but switches to groundwater wells during peak summer demand that can test 35–60 grains per gallon — roughly 600 to 1,000+ PPM. This is one of the most dramatic seasonal water-hardness swings documented on the Wasatch Front, and it means appliance maintenance schedules need to account for the season, not just a single yearly assumption.

Why is Utah's water so hard in general?

The Wasatch Front sits on the ancient lakebed of prehistoric Lake Bonneville — the massive Ice Age lake that once covered much of Utah, leaving behind mineral-rich sediment and limestone geology. Combined with groundwater that travels through extensive limestone formations before reaching homes, this produces a state average hardness near 300 PPM, among the hardest in the nation.

Do you offer same-day appliance repair across the Wasatch Front?

Yes — 6 days a week across Salt Lake City, Provo, Sandy, Herriman, Lehi, Orem, Ogden, and West Valley City. Refrigerator calls get same-day priority.

What does the service call fee cover?

The fee covers travel, arrival, and full appliance diagnostic inspection. It is applied toward your repair cost if you proceed. If you decide not to proceed, you owe only the service call fee.

Why did my refrigerator door seal crack instead of getting moldy?

Utah's high-desert climate means very low year-round humidity — the opposite of wetter markets where door seals develop mold. In dry conditions, rubber door seals lose moisture and become brittle, eventually cracking. We assess door seal condition specifically for dry-climate wear patterns on every Wasatch Front refrigerator call.

Should I repair or replace my appliance?

If repair cost is under 50%% of a comparable new appliance's price and the unit is under 8–10 years old, repair usually makes more financial sense. We give direct guidance on every call.

Do you service premium appliances in Lehi's Silicon Slopes corridor?

Yes — Sub-Zero, Wolf, Bosch, and Miele are common throughout Lehi's Traverse Mountain and Thanksgiving Point-area custom homes. We service all premium brands with brand-specific diagnostic approaches, accounting for Lehi's variable water sources.

What brands do you service?

LG, Samsung, Whirlpool, GE, KitchenAid, Maytag, Bosch, Miele, Sub-Zero, Wolf, Thermador, Frigidaire, Electrolux, Kenmore, and all major brands.
